Geographic Area Rate Caps (GARC)

Geographical Area Rate Caps (GARC) provide a flat-rate payment based on the location of the conserved land. This flat rate can be determined to incorporate different values for different land types. The state of Montana, for example, has categorized their state into irrigated cropland, non-irrigated cropland, and range/pasture.

The literature on this is specific to states that use and/or research this method; subsequently, the links below include examples rather than explicit summaries of how the method is used.
