California Carbon Market

The California carbon market is a cap-and-trade program that allows producers to generate revenue by selling carbon-offset credits. These credits are then purchased by industrial polluters. This method is similar to the Transferable Development Method where landowners can sell their development rights to developers that are limited elsewhere. This method of capping and trading carbon services can lead to high and direct compensation for large parcels of carbon-sequestering land.
